Clara Barton

Clarissa Harlowe Barton, known as Clara Barton, was an American nurse, educator, and humanitarian who founded the American Red Cross in 1881. She served as a Civil War nurse on sixteen battlefields, later led the search for missing soldiers, and advocated for civil rights and women's suffrage before women had the right to vote. Barton died at age 90 in Glen Echo, Maryland, leaving a legacy as one of the most honored women in American history.
