Claire Rudolf Murphy

Claire Rudolf Murphy is an American author born in 1951, known for her fifteen award-winning fiction and nonfiction books for children and young adults, focusing on outsiders in American history who persevered against odds, such as *Marching With Aunt Susan*, *Children of Alcatraz*, and *I Am Sacajawea, I Am York*. A former middle and high school teacher with a history degree from Santa Clara University, she has taught creative writing and now resides in her hometown of Spokane, Washington.[1][2][7][8]
