Christopher Brickell
Christopher David Brickell (born 1932) is an eminent English botanist, horticulturist, and author who served as Director of the RHS Garden at Wisley from 1969 and later as the first Director General of the Royal Horticultural Society from 1985 until his retirement in 1993. He has made significant contributions to horticultural science, including nomenclature and taxonomy of cultivated plants, conservation efforts like founding Plant Heritage, and authoring or editing numerous publications such as the DK/RHS A-Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants. Awarded the CBE in 1991 and the RHS Victoria Medal of Honour, he has held leadership roles in organizations like the International Society for Horticultural Science.
