Christine Stansell

Christine Stansell (born 1949) is an American historian specializing in women's and gender history, antebellum US social and political history, American cultural history, history of human rights, and post-catastrophic societies. She earned her PhD from Yale University in 1979 and has held prominent positions including Edwards Professor of American History at Princeton and Stein-Freiler Distinguished Service Professor Emerita at the University of Chicago, from which she recently retired.[1][2][3]
