Chet Murphy

Chester 'Chet' Murphy (1917–2016) was an American tennis player, coach, instructor, and author. With his twin brother William, he won consecutive Big Ten Conference doubles championships in 1938 and 1939 while at the University of Chicago, and was runner-up in the 1939 NCAA singles and doubles. He coached at the University of Minnesota, UC Berkeley, and The Broadmoor Resort, and co-authored the 'Tennis Handbook' (1962) along with books like 'Advanced Tennis' and 'Tennis for Thinking Players.'
