Charlotte

Charlotte Brontë was an influential English novelist and poet, best known for her groundbreaking semi-autobiographical novel Jane Eyre published in 1847 under the pseudonym Currer Bell. Born the eldest surviving child of a clergyman in Yorkshire, she worked as a teacher and governess before achieving literary success, though her life was marked by family tragedies including the deaths of her mother and siblings. She authored additional novels such as Shirley and Villette before her early death at age 38.
