Charles Sheffield
Charles Sheffield (1935–2002) was an English-born mathematician, physicist, and prolific science fiction author who published over thirty books and ninety short stories across genres including hard science fiction, horror, thrillers, and mystery. He graduated with first-class honors in mathematics from St. John's College, Cambridge, worked as chief scientist at Earth Satellite Corporation, and served as president of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and the American Astronautical Society. Sheffield won the Hugo, Nebula, and John W. Campbell Memorial Awards for works like 'Georgia on My Mind' and Brother to Dragons.[1][2][3]
