Charles Hirschkind

Charles Hirschkind is a professor and chair of anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley, known for research on religious practice, media technologies, and emergent forms of political community in the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. His work includes influential studies of Islam, ethics, and listening practices, and he has taught at several universities including Columbia, Johns Hopkins, the University of Toronto, and the New School.
