Charles Francis Adams

Charles Francis Adams Sr. (1807–1886) was an American historical editor, writer, politician, and diplomat who served as U.S. Minister to the United Kingdom during the Civil War, playing a crucial role in preventing British recognition of the Confederacy. He was the third son of President John Quincy Adams and continued his family's legacy in politics and diplomacy.
