Charles Elmer White
Charles Elmer White Jr. (1876-1936) was an American architect who graduated from MIT in 1895, worked in Frank Lloyd Wright's Oak Park studio from 1903 to 1906, and later established a successful independent practice in the Chicago area, partnering with Bertram A. Weber from 1922 until his death. He authored influential architecture textbooks including 'Successful Houses and How to Build Them' and 'The Bungalow Book,' and contributed to Ladies Home Journal for 10 years, publishing designs and articles on home building. White was also public-spirited, chairing Oak Park's first zoning board and advocating for slum clearance in Chicago.
