Charles Edwin Bennett

Charles Edwin Bennett (1858–1921) was an American classical scholar renowned for his contributions to Latin grammar and philology. He graduated from Brown University in 1878, studied at Harvard and German universities, and held professorships at the University of Wisconsin, Brown, and Cornell University, where he served as Goldwin Smith Professor of Latin from 1892 until his death. He authored influential works like *New Latin Grammar* (1895), edited numerous Latin texts, and served as president of the American Philological Association (1907–1908).
