Charles Beaumont (born Charles Leroy Nutt) was an American author of speculative fiction, renowned for his horror and science fiction short stories published in magazines like Playboy and Amazing Stories, as well as screenplays for classic Twilight Zone episodes such as 'The Howling Man' and 'Miniature.' He also wrote novels like The Intruder and film scripts for Roger Corman adaptations including The Masque of the Red Death. His prolific career was cut short by a mysterious rapid-aging illness, dying at 38 in 1967 with the appearance of a 95-year-old.
