Chaofen Sun

Chaofen Sun is a Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Stanford University, with a courtesy appointment in Linguistics, and Coordinator of the Chinese program since 1991. He earned his BA in English Language and Literature from East China Normal University in 1974, MA in Linguistics from the University of Oregon in 1984, and PhD in Linguistics from Cornell University in 1988. His research focuses on Chinese linguistics, including morphosyntactic changes in the history of Chinese, variations in modern Chinese languages across socio-cultural contexts, and pedagogical grammar for teaching Chinese as a second language.
