Ceil Lucas

Ceil Lucas is a professor emerita of linguistics at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., where she taught through American Sign Language for 31 years from 1982 until her retirement in 2013.[1][5] She has edited or co-authored 22 books, serves as editor of the journal Sign Language Studies, and was named a Fellow of the Linguistic Society of America.[1][5] Born in the United States, she was raised from ages 5 to 21 in Guatemala City and Rome, Italy, and authored the memoir How I Got Here.[1][3]
