Carter Smith
Carter Smith (born September 6, 1971) is an American filmmaker and fashion photographer best known for directing the horror films The Ruins (2008), Jamie Marks Is Dead (2014), and Swallowed (2022).[1] Born in Bowdoinham, Maine, he graduated from Mt. Ararat High School in 1989, moved to New York City, attended the Fashion Institute of Technology briefly, and pursued a career in fashion photography before transitioning to filmmaking with shorts like Bugcrush (2006).[1]
