Caroline Miller

Caroline Pafford Miller (1903-1992) was an American novelist best known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning debut novel *Lamb in His Bosom* (1933), the first by a Georgian author, which drew on Georgia folktales, dialects, and her family genealogy to depict rural Southern life.[1][2] The novel also won France's Prix Femina in 1934 or 1935 and became a bestseller, earning praise for its authentic representation of wiregrass culture.[1][2] Her second novel, *Lebanon* (1944), received a lukewarm reception, after which she wrote short stories and features but faded from prominence.[1][3]
