Carlos Villanes Cairo was a Peruvian writer and philologist renowned for his children's and young adult literature, having won prestigious awards such as the Gran Angular, Mirlo Blanco, and Banco del Libro. He lived in Spain from 1983, where he earned his doctorate in Hispanic Philology, and collaborated extensively with Spanish and Latin American media. He passed away in Madrid after suffering from a terminal illness.
