Carlos Amadeu Botelho Byington

Carlos Amadeu Botelho Byington was a Brazilian psychiatrist and Jungian analyst who founded the Brazilian Society of Analytical Psychology and developed Symbolic Psychology, a theoretical framework based on Jungian concepts. Born in São Paulo and raised in Rio de Janeiro, he graduated in medicine and specialized in psychiatry and psychoanalysis, earning his Jungian certification from the Jung Institute in Zurich in 1965. He was instrumental in spreading Jungian thought in Brazil through teaching, lectures, and his original theoretical contributions.
