Capcom Co., Ltd. is a Japanese video game developer and publisher founded in 1979 by Kenzo Tsujimoto, initially as a manufacturer of electronic game machines before officially establishing as Capcom in 1983. Best known for iconic franchises such as Street Fighter, Mega Man, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter, the company rose to prominence with arcade hits like Commando and Ghosts 'n Goblins in the 1980s and expanded into home console gaming. Under Tsujimoto's leadership, Capcom became a global industry leader, going public in 1990 and continuing to innovate in both 2D and 3D gaming.
