Calvin Houston
Calvin Houston (1932-1989) was an African American Presbyterian minister and social justice advocate born in Davidson, North Carolina. He was commissioned as an evangelist in 1959 and founded a Black church in Mobile, Alabama's Hillsdale neighborhood. From 1966 to 1983, he served Rice Memorial Presbyterian Church in Atlanta and led the Urban Training Organization of Atlanta (UTOA), an interreligious social justice network focused on urban ministry and community outreach.
