Cain Hope Felder

Cain Hope Felder was an American biblical scholar, professor of New Testament language and literature at Howard University School of Divinity from 1981 until his retirement in 2016, and editor of The Journal of Religious Thought. He challenged Eurocentric interpretations of the Bible, highlighting the presence and roles of Black people in Scripture through works like Stony the Road We Trod and The Original African Heritage Study Bible. An ordained minister, he served as the first executive director of Black Methodists for Church Renewal and founded the Biblical Institute for Social Change.
