Ruth Harriet Jacobs (1924-2013) was an American sociologist, gerontologist, educator, poet, and author of nine books, best known for advocating for older women through works like 'Be An Outrageous Older Woman' (1991). She began her academic career later in life, earning a bachelor's degree from Boston University at age 40 and a Ph.D. in sociology from Brandeis University in 1969, and served as a researcher at the Wellesley Centers for Women for 20 years. Her writings and workshops inspired large audiences, focusing on empowerment and life experiences of women.
