Francis Parkman Jr. was an American historian and author best known for his monumental seven-volume work 'France and England in North America' and 'The Oregon Trail: Sketches of Prairie and Rocky-Mountain Life'. He was also a leading horticulturist who briefly served as a professor of horticulture at Harvard University. Parkman's works remain valued today as both historical sources and literature.
