The Food and Nutrition Board is a standing committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine established in 1940. It studies issues of national and global importance regarding the safety and adequacy of the U.S. food supply, establishes principles and guidelines for good nutrition, and provides authoritative judgment on relationships among food intake, nutrition, and health maintenance and disease prevention.
