Adrian von Buttlar (born Adrian Freiherr Treusch von Buttlar-Brandenfels) is a German art historian, born in Marburg in 1948. He studied art history, archaeology, and sociology in Munich and London, earned his doctorate on the English country house in the 18th century, and later completed his habilitation on Leo von Klenze. His work has focused especially on garden art, landscape gardens, and modern architecture, and he held professorships at the University of Kiel and the Technical University of Berlin.
