Brothers Grimm
The Brothers Grimm, Jacob (1785–1863) and Wilhelm (1786–1859), were German academics, linguists, and folklorists best known for collecting and publishing Grimm's Fairy Tales in 1812 to preserve Germanic cultural heritage. They studied law at the University of Marburg, worked as librarians and professors, and collaborated on the monumental German Dictionary. Motivated by Romantic ideals, they gathered folk tales amid political fragmentation in early 19th-century Germany.
