Brother Roger
Brother Roger (Roger Schutz-Marsauche), a Swiss Protestant theologian and founder of the Taizé Community in France, moved to Taizé in 1940 to shelter war refugees from the Nazis, establishing a monastic community dedicated to prayer, reconciliation, and ecumenism. He attracted tens of thousands of young people annually to Taizé for prayer and reflection, promoting Christian unity and peace until his death. He progressively entered into full communion with the Catholic Church while maintaining his Reformed roots.
