Brian O Cuiv

Brian Ó Cuív (1916–1999) was a prominent Irish-language scholar and Celtic expert, renowned for his work on Cork dialects and Irish manuscripts. He edited key publications such as the Proceedings of the International Congress of Celtic Studies (1959), Celtica (1974–1990), and the Catalogue of Irish Language Manuscripts in the Bodleian Library (2001–03). Born in Dublin as the sixth child of journalist Shan Ó Cuív, he was educated at O'Connell Schools and University College Dublin, later becoming Professor of Celtic Studies there.
