Brendan Hughes

Brendan Hughes was a leading Irish republican and revolutionary socialist who served as Officer Commanding of the Belfast Brigade of the Provisional Irish Republican Army. He is best known for his role in the 1980 Irish hunger strike and for his memoirs and writings on the republican struggle, including *The Dark* and *Up Like a Bird*.[3][11]
