Branko Soucek

Branko Souček was a pioneering Croatian academic and computer scientist who designed and built the first digital computer in Croatia and Yugoslavia in 1959, and later founded the first laboratory of Cybernetics in the country. He graduated in electrical engineering from the University of Zagreb in 1955, earned his doctorate in 1963, and worked at the Ruđer Bošković Institute until 1976, where he led the construction of the nation's first digital computer.
