Betsy Franco

Betsy Franco (née Verne, born Betsy Lou Levine Verne) is an award-winning American children's author, poet, and editor raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio, who earned a BA in studio art from Stanford University before turning to writing for children after becoming a mother to three boys[2]. She has published over eighty titles spanning educational materials, easy readers, mathematics and science resource books, and poetry anthologies, including the award-winning Counting in Dog Years and Other Sassy Math Poems[1][3]. Franco is also a screenwriter, actor, and producer known for works such as The Broken Tower (2011) and Metamorphosis: Junior Year (2017)[1].
