Bernadette Watts
Bernadette Watts is a British illustrator and children's book author born in Northampton, England, in 1942 to an architect father and painter mother, who encouraged her artistic talents from childhood. She studied at Maidstone Art School, worked with artist Brian Wildsmith, and since 1968 has been a freelance illustrator, renowned for her distinctive illustrations of fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen, often published under the name 'Bernadette' in Europe. In 2018, she celebrated 50 years with publisher NordSüd.
