Beriah Green
Beriah Green Jr. (1795–1874) was an American abolitionist, reformer, temperance advocate, college professor, Presbyterian clergyman, and educator. He served as president of the Oneida Institute from 1833 to 1843, transforming it into a leading interracial abolitionist training ground and site for publishing anti-slavery materials. Green presided over the founding of the American Anti-Slavery Society in 1833 and remained active in reform causes, including temperance, until his death while delivering a temperance speech.
