Benjamin Franklin Perry

Benjamin Franklin Perry (1805–1886) was an American lawyer, editor, legislator, and Unionist who served as the 72nd Governor of South Carolina, appointed by President Andrew Johnson in 1865 to lead the state during Reconstruction after the Civil War. He was born in Pickens County, South Carolina, and was known for his reluctant Confederate stance and commitment to civil order during a turbulent period in American history.
