Bell
bell hooks, born Gloria Jean Watkins, was an American author, feminist, scholar, and activist whose work examined intersections of race, gender, and class, particularly perceptions of Black women.[1][6] She published around 40 books including poetry, essays, and children's books, taught at institutions like UC Santa Cruz and Yale, and established the bell hooks Institute at Berea College.[1][6] Choosing her pen name in lowercase to emphasize her message, she remained rooted in her Appalachian upbringing while gaining international acclaim.[1]
