Bayard Taylor
Bayard Taylor (1825–1878) was an American poet, novelist, journalist, travel writer, and diplomat known for his vivid travel narratives, such as 'Views A-Foot' (1846), and his acclaimed translation of Goethe's 'Faust.' Born in rural Pennsylvania, he funded extensive travels to Europe, Asia, and elsewhere by publishing detailed accounts and delivering lectures, later serving as U.S. Minister to Germany until his death in Berlin.
