Barry Lopez

Barry Holstun Lopez (1945–2020) was an acclaimed American essayist, nature writer, and fiction author renowned for his works exploring the relationship between human cultures and the natural world, including the National Book Award-winning Arctic Dreams (1986) and Of Wolves and Men (1978).[1][2] Over a career spanning more than 50 years, he traveled to over 80 countries, addressing environmental and humanitarian concerns through essays, travel writing, and nonfiction.[2][5] His later works, such as Horizon (2019), reflected on global journeys and moral urgency in the face of ecological challenges.[1][3]
