Barry L. Strayer

Barry Lee Strayer (August 13, 1932 – December 3, 2022) was a renowned Canadian judge and constitutional law expert who served as a Justice of the Canadian Federal Court of Appeal and later as a Deputy Judge of the Federal Court of Canada[1]. He is celebrated as one of the principal drafters of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and played an instrumental role in establishing the legal framework for the patriation of Canada's Constitution[1][2]. Strayer was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and died in Ottawa at the age of 90[1][3].
