Baron John Cam Hobhouse Broughton

John Cam Hobhouse, 1st Baron Broughton (1786–1869) was an English politician, diarist, and close friend of Lord Byron, with whom he traveled through Europe in 1809. He served in various high offices, including Secretary at War, Chief Secretary for Ireland, and President of the Board of Control, advocating for reforms in the military and Indian policy. Educated at Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge, he was created Baron Broughton in 1851.
