Barbara Willard
Barbara Mary Willard was a British novelist best known for children's historical fiction, particularly her 'Mantlemass Chronicles,' a family saga set in 15th to 17th-century England. Born in Sussex to a Shakespearean actor, she tried acting before settling into writing and became one of the outstanding children's novelists of her era, winning the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize for The Iron Lily in 1973.
