Baldwin of Forde
Baldwin of Forde (c. 1125 – 19 November 1190) was a medieval English churchman who served as Archbishop of Canterbury from 1184 or 1185 until his death. Born in Exeter to a clergyman or poor parents, he studied canon law and theology in Bologna, tutored Pope Eugene III's nephew, became a Cistercian monk at Forde Abbey in 1169, abbot in 1173, Bishop of Worcester in 1180-1181, and participated in the Third Crusade where he died in the Holy Land.[1][2][3][6]
