B. L. Turner II

Billie Lee Turner II is an American geographer and human-environmental scientist born in Texas City, Texas, who specializes in land change from prehistory to present, deforestation in Mexico and Central America, and urban design in arid environments. A member of the National Academy of Sciences and Regents Professor at Arizona State University, he is the Gilbert F. White Professor of Environment and Society and a leader in bridging Berkeley School Latin Americanist Geography with Chicago School natural hazards research.
