Arthur Rimbaud

Arthur Rimbaud was a French poet and adventurer born in 1854 who became a pivotal figure in the Symbolist movement and prefigured surrealism with his transgressive and surreal themes. He produced the bulk of his literary output during his late adolescence and early adulthood, completely stopping writing at age 20 after completing Illuminations. After retiring from literature, he traveled extensively across three continents as a merchant and explorer until his death from cancer in 1891.
