Arthur Frommer
Arthur Bernard Frommer (1929-2024) was an American travel writer who founded the Frommer's brand of travel guides and revolutionized travel accessibility for middle-class Americans. After serving as a U.S. Army serviceman in postwar Europe, he published 'Europe on $5 a Day' in 1957, which democratized international travel by proving that affordable vacations in Europe were within reach for ordinary Americans. He built a publishing empire that became the largest-selling travel guide series in North America, and later expanded into tour companies, magazines, websites, and podcasts.
