Arthur E. Smith A E

Arthur E. Smith (1917-2012) was an American painter specializing in watercolors, born in Buffalo, New York. He earned degrees from Buffalo State Teachers College (B.S. 1939), Cornell University (M.A. 1947), and Syracuse University (Ed.D. 1952), then moved to Minnesota in 1949 to join the University of Minnesota's Art Department, where he directed the Tweed Museum of Art until retiring in 1980. Post-retirement, he continued painting watercolors and remained active in his community.[1]
