Arnold Lobel
Arnold Stark Lobel (1933–1987) was an American author and illustrator of children's books, best known for the Frog and Toad series (1970–1979) and Mouse Soup (1977).[1][2] He won the Caldecott Medal for Fables in 1981 and illustrated nearly 100 books, often using animal characters to explore themes of friendship and childhood.[1][3][5] Born in Los Angeles, raised in Schenectady, New York, he studied at Pratt Institute and began publishing in the 1960s after early health challenges sparked his imagination.[2][3]
