Arjun Appadurai
Arjun Appadurai is an Indian-American anthropologist born in 1949 who is recognized as a major theorist in globalization studies. He has held professorships at leading institutions including the University of Chicago, Yale University, the University of Pennsylvania, The New School, and New York University, where he is now Professor Emeritus. His influential work examines the cultural dynamics of globalization and the social life of material objects, and he is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Royal Anthropological Institute.
