Anusuya Chinsamy-Turan

Anusuya Chinsamy-Turan (born August 27, 1962) is a South African vertebrate paleontologist and global expert on the microstructure of fossil teeth and bones of extinct and extant vertebrates. She earned her PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1991, served as Head of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cape Town from 2012 to 2015, and has authored six books including academic works on dinosaur bone microstructure and popular science titles. Her contributions have been recognized with awards such as the 2005 South African Woman of the Year Award and the Distinguished Women Scientist Award.
