Annie Wood Besant
Annie Wood Besant (1847–1933) was an English socialist, theosophist, and women's rights activist who advocated for birth control, labor reform, and Indian nationalism. She became the first female president of the Indian National Congress in 1917 and served as president of the Theosophical Society from 1907 until her death. Her diverse activism spanned from secular social reform in Britain to spiritual and political engagement in India.
