Anne Lamott

Anne Lamott (born April 10, 1954) is an American novelist and nonfiction writer known for her self-deprecating humor, ruthless honesty, and unflagging compassion in exploring autobiographical themes like alcoholism, single motherhood, depression, and Christianity.[1][2] She wrote her first novel, Hard Laughter, for her father when he was diagnosed with brain cancer, and has since authored numerous novels and bestsellers including Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life.[3][5] A Guggenheim Fellow and writing instructor, she lives in Marin County, California.[6][8]
